No better man for the job

This letter is in regards to a situation years ago when I first met then Cpl. Paul Davis of the Maine State Police, and now running for re-election in Senate District 4, Piscataquis County.

My young children, ages 5 and 10, and I were on our way from Augusta to our camp in Kokadjo when all of a sudden, in Sangerville, a deer came across the road and hit the driver’s side window of my truck shattering it. I’m not sure who called the police but within minutes Cpl. Davis came to my rescue. Unfortunately, the deer didn’t make it but the windows in the door and cap were destroyed. Fortunately, Cpl. Davis lived a couple of miles away and had me follow him to his residence where he repaired my vehicle so kindly. He brought us into his home, introduced us to his lovely wife Patty and she served my children cookies and milk as we chatted.

Honest to goodness, it was just like a scene from “The Waltons.” It warmed my heart to see such a caring family.

After all these years, I’ve followed his political career and am proud to say this man helped my children and I in our time of need with the utmost respect. I’ve always wanted to thank Sen. Davis for being such a caring and compassionate man to us that day and I got that chance and to shake his hand 28 years later at the funeral of Det. Ben Campbell of the Maine State Police.

Sen. Davis has worked hard for his community and wants to continue that journey by re-electing him for the District 4 senatorial seat in Augusta.  I can not think of a better man for the job.
