AQUAPONICS GRANT FOR SEDOMOCHA — SeDoMoCha Middle School grade 6 social studies teacher Chris Miller received a $1,000 grant from Maine Agriculture in the Classroom. The grant is to purchase a portable aquaponics system for elementary classrooms and to upgrade the current system. The aquaponics system in use was designed and built by students in the middle school garden club, which is part of the outdoor education program at SeDoMoCha. The system is self-contained with fish and plants that operate in a symbiotic relationship. The systems will be used to show flora and fauna life cycles while growing food year round in the classroom.
