Maine McDonald’s Senior All-Star selections 

BANGOR — The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches recently announced that three players from the region have been chosen for the 2020 Maine McDonald’s Senior All-Star Games on Saturday, March 7 at Newman Gymnasium on the campus of Husson University.

 

The Boys C/D North team includes Deter Regional High School’s Haedyn Guenther and Nathan Richards. The duo and their teammates will play a team of the top seniors from Class C/D South schools at 1 p.m. on March 7.

 

Halle Pelletier of Greenville High School was chosen for the Girls C/D South Team. The squad will be coached by Greenville head coach Maren Mason, along with Joe Burnham of Winthrop High School , and the girls C/D game will tip off at 2:30 p.m.

 

The day will begin with a free throw competition at 8:30 a.m. and two area players are taking part. East champion Peyton Grant — who earned top honors in the state a year ago — is one of four girls putting their foul shooting skills to the test to see who is the state’s best.

 

Foxcroft Academy’s Caleb Crocker will enter as the boys East free throw champion.

 

The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches also announced its All-State Academic Teams. Logan Perkins of Dexter and Jacob Raynes of Foxcroft Academy are two of 12 boys boys from across Maine to receive this honor.

 

The dozen members of the Girls All-State Academic Team includes Morgan Noyes of Greenville.

 

Proceeds from Maine McDonald’s Senior All-Star Weekend benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine.
