Rep. Higgins announces reelection bid

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Rep. Norman Higgins, I-Dover-Foxcroft announces his candidacy for a fourth term in the Maine Legislature.

He has served in the 127th, 128th and 129th Legislatures. He has been a member of the Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee and the Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee. He currently serves on the (IDEA) Innovation, Development and Economic Advancement Committee with oversight of the new 10 year State Strategic Plan for Economic Development. He is a member of the Independent Caucus and co-chair of the Broadband Caucus.

 

Higgins was a teacher and high school principal at PCHS and superintendent of schools in Guilford for 32 years. He served in leadership positions for several years at the Maine Department of Education. Higgins served 10 years in the Maine Army National Guard. 

 

He served three terms as a Dover-Foxcroft selectman and two terms on the HAD 4 board of directors. He is currently a trustee of Foxcroft Academy and the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church.

 

“Piscataquis County faces significant challenges and requires experienced leaders advocating for our needs,” Higgins said. “Creating jobs, promoting high speed broadband, funding our rural schools, improving our roads, ensuring the future of our hospital and supporting our elderly are all key priorities. I look forward to working together to find common sense solutions.”
