Gov. Mills nominates Stitham for reappointment to bench

Gov. Janet Mills announced she has nominated four candidates to Maine’s District Court and two candidates to Maine’s Superior Court. Three of the nominations are for new appointments and three are for reappointments.

The Hon. Kevin Stitham of Dover-Foxcroft has been nominated for reappointment to the Maine District Court for his fourth term. Stitham was first sworn in as a judge on Sept. 2, 1998 and previously practiced law in Piscataquis County for over 20 years.

“These individuals are eminently qualified, highly experienced, and well respected,” Mills said. “They have demonstrated a fidelity to the law and a commitment to render justice faithfully and impartially. I am confident that their proven abilities will serve the people of Maine well from the bench.”

All judicial appointments are for a term of seven years and require review by the Legislature’s Judiciary Committee and confirmation by the Maine State Senate.
