Pine Tree Hospice volunteer training starts Sept. 17

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Help, hope, and giving to our communities — that is what Pine Tree Hospice volunteers do. We offer non-medical support to individuals and families in Piscataquis, Penobscot and Somerset counties who are dealing with progressive, life-limiting illnesses and/or grief.

Our service area is large, and there is a growing demand for volunteers to provide companionship – playing cards, reading, simple household tasks or just sitting quietly so that a tired caregiver can rest. Many clients like to take a drive to see the fall colors, or wildlife or just to get out of the house for a little while. We also train volunteers to help with bereaved children and adults –- our support groups and workshops are an important service to our communities. By offering just a few hours of your time each month, you can help someone in need.

Our tagline is “We can’t add days to your life, but we can add life to your days.” Volunteering will add life to your days, and to the people you support. Pine Tree Hospice is offering free volunteer training for both direct care and bereavement support that begins on Sept. 17 in Dover-Foxcroft. We encourage you to participate in this training and explore the possibility of making a difference in someone’s life. Pine Tree Hospice is a community-based, not-for-profit volunteer hospice that has provided service in 39 communities for over 30 years.
