Raynes wins 800 at Almquist Invitational

OLD TOWN — Middle school track athletes from across eastern Maine took part in the Almquist Invitational on May 21 at Old Town High School.

Annie Raynes of SeDoMoCha Middle School won the grade 7-8 800. Raynes covered the two laps around the track in a time of 2 minutes, 42.25, narrowly edging the 2:42.66 for Isabelle Fox of the William S. Cohen School in Bangor.

Molly Sipple of Piscataquis Community Elementary School came in ninth in the grade 7-8 800 at 2:57.36. Sipple also finished 11th in the grade 7-8 100 at 14.68 seconds.

In the boys’ meet, Jackson Smith of SeDoMoCha placed second in the grade 7-8 high jump at a height of 5-04. Smith was also third in the grade 7-8 200 at 26.33 seconds.

SeDoMoCha’s Kemsley Marsters finished third in the grade 7-8 100 at 12.83 seconds. He was also fifth in the grade 7-8 shot put with a throw of 34-05.75.

The Eagle grade 7-8 4×100 relay came in seventh as Kiernan Schriver, Smith, Gage Beaudry and Marsters combined for a time of 53.89 seconds.

Landon Smith of SeDoMoCha finished eighth in the grade 5-6 50-meter dash with a time of 7.85 seconds.

Among grade 7-8 55-meter hurdles, Schriver placed ninth at 10.94 seconds and in 13th place was teammate Jack Kingsbury at 11.16 seconds.
