GFWC Miosac Club announces Sebec Lake Ice-Out Contest winner

The General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) Miosac Club members of Dover-Foxcroft wish to thank all the local residents and those from far and wide for making this year’s Sebec Lake Ice-Out Contest an enjoyable event.

Jerry and Debbie Cole served as this year’s “Ice-Out” judges — they reside in the Narrows of the lake. The club wishes to thank them for their diligence and willingness to watch the ice.

The ice was declared to be “out” at 9:48 a.m. on Friday, May 3. The winner of this year’s contest is Larry Miller of Howell, New Jersey. His was the closest guess with a time of 10:04 a.m. Miller has graciously donated the prize money of $100 back to the club with the provision that $20 be reserved to go back into the purchase of additional tickets for himself next season.

This is the second time in four years Miller has won this contest. How do you suppose a man from New Jersey knows more about Sebec Lake than “Mainers?”
