Domestic violence presentation in Dexter May 7

DEXTER — All are encouraged to gather for a presentation on domestic violence that will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, located on 533 North Dexter Road, on Tuesday, May 7, from 6:30-8 p.m. The event will be co-hosted by Our Lady of the Snows Parish in Dexter, St. Agnes Parish in Pittsfield and Catholic Charities Maine.

The presentation will include information about the dynamics of abuse, understanding the many forms of abuse, recognizing abusive patterns, response methods and ways in which the conditions that lead to abuse can be changed. Those in attendance will also hear from a victim who will offer a perspective on the faith community’s role in healing.

Offering the presentation will be Partners for Peace, an organization that provides support, advocacy and safety planning to anyone affected by abuse and domestic violence throughout Penobscot and Piscataquis counties, including the Greater Bangor Area, Lincoln, Millinocket, Newport, Dexter, and Dover-Foxcroft. The organization fosters safe and healthy relationships through prevention, education, and training.

Partners for Peace works with people of any age, gender, sexual orientation, faith or ethnic background.
