Fifth annual fruitcake bake off at Abbot Memorial Library

    DEXTER — On Saturday, Dec. 8, the Abbot Memorial Library will be decorated for the holiday season and for the fifth annual  Fruitcake Fanciers Bake Off. The public is invited to attend this festive affair and sample some of the excellent cakes baked by local residents.

    All contestants should pre-register by calling the library at 924-7292. Copies of contest rules are available at the library. Fruitcakes should be delivered to the library before 1:30 p.m. Judging will commence at 2 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for first  place ($25), second ($15) and third ($10). If the winning recipe comes out of a cookbook owned by the library, the prize money will be doubled. For more information contact the library at 924-7292.
