Piscataquis and Penobscot County Assistant District Attorney Chris Almy, 69 of Charleston, ran in the 14th annual Flattop 5K on March 30 in Lamoine. Almy covered the course in a time of 26 minutes, 52 seconds to finish 62nd among a field of 171.

More than a half dozen runners with ties to the region took part in the Bridge the Gap 3-Miler and 10-Miler on April 6 in Prospect and Bucksport.

In the 3-mile race Kelly Gay, 48 of Newport who teaches at the Ridge View Community School in Dexter, finished 102nd among 289 entrants with a time of 29:23. Anna Miles, 7 of Dover-Foxcroft, was 122nd at 30:05 and Dr. Ron Miles, 49 of Dover-Foxcroft, was right behind in 123rd place at 30:05. Judy Snow, 64 of Dover-Foxcroft, came in 152nd at 31:52.

Dawn Eckstein covered the 10-mile course in 1:44.04 to finish 156th among a field of 222. Amy Rogers, 37 of Dover-Foxcroft, came in 159th at 1:44.41 and placing 180th was Karen Jankunas, 46 of Dover-Foxcroft, with a time of 1:48.23.
