Mayo offers free mammograms to women 40 and older

    DOVER-FOXCROFT — In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Mayo Regional Hospital  is offering free mammograms to women 40 and over in the community during the month of October. The program is geared to women with either no insurance or insufficient coverage to cover the cost of a mammogram.

    All interested should call the Maine Breast and Cervical Healthy program at 1-800-350-5180 ext. 1 to determine eligibility. Simply answer a few qualifying questions and learn the next steps.
    Patients who do not qualify will be referred to Mayo Regional Hospital for a no-cost routine mammogram. The service includes a free mammogram and interpretation. Patients needing further screening will be responsible for the cost of the additional imaging and radiologist interpretation fee.
