Business 101 webinar and classroom option

    DOVER-FOXCROFT — MaineStream Finance, a subsidiary of Penquis, is offering a free Business 101 workshop via an online webinar and in a classroom setting in Bangor, Dover-Foxcroft and Lincoln.

This workshop is for anyone interested in knowing more about starting a business. Many people have an idea for a business but are unsure of the next steps or what is involved in starting a business. Business 101 will help answer those questions.
    The workshops will be offered as a webinar on Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m. and on Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. It will be offered in a classroom setting on Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. at Penquis, 262 Harlow Street in Bangor, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. at Penquis, 50 North Street in Dover-Foxcroft, and Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. at Penquis, 40 Main Street in Lincoln. Individuals interested in the online workshop will receive instructions for participating upon registration.
    The workshop provides an overview of the pros and cons of operating a small business, including the basics of a business plan, the importance of networking, creating and managing a budget, available resources for business development and understanding credit. MaineStream Finance also offers small business lending and one on one business technical assistance with a microenterprise consultant.
    The workshop instructor will be James Macomber, microenterprise consultant and 2008 SBA Home Based Business Champion for Maine and New England.
