Celebrate and support our wonderful little town

To the Editor;
I’ve been hearing about the benefits of having a grateful attitude — physical health benefits as well as promoting a sense of well-being leading to reduced stress in one’s life. People are keeping gratitude journals and focusing on their blessings large and small. After the Thanksgiving weekend and having just returned from a more urban environment, I feel grateful for my community and the people and organizations that I depend on every day. I am also aware that we all need to nurture and support our neighbors, organizations, and businesses in order for our community to thrive. We need to shop at local stores, dine at local restaurants, volunteer for local organizations, and attend local theatre and concerts in order to support the health and well-being of our community.

As I drove by the fire department yesterday I saw a crew (volunteer firefighters) erecting the community Christmas tree. This is an example of what makes our small town such a great place to live. We need everyone to be active in supporting our community in order to make it all work. Not everyone can volunteer for the fire department, but we all can see a movie at Center Theatre or meet a friend for coffee or lunch in town. We are so fortunate to live here — let’s support our wonderful little town and celebrate a Hometown Holiday year round!
