Homecoming Golf Scramble surpasses fundraising goal of $5,000

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Thanks to the generous efforts of sponsors, the Golf Scramble Committee and countless volunteers, Foxcroft Academy’s goal of raising $5,000 to benefit the Foxcroft Academy Horizon Scholarship program was surpassed at this year’s annual Homecoming Golf Scramble held at Foxcroft Golf Club on Saturday, Aug. 3.

FOREST FORE THE TREES — Nick Miller works out of trouble as Andy Shorey looks on during the Homecoming Golf Scramble Aug. 3 at the Foxcroft Golf Club.

Josh, Jake and Jim Iannetta posted the best overall score at the nine-hole scramble, coming in at 10 under par. They shared a $400 shop credit at Foxcroft Golf Club. Prizes of $50 were awarded to Joanne Sincyr and Rusty Clukey (closest to the pin), Leenie Hartford and Jack Sincyr (closest to the line) and Kim Cynewski and Ty Kennedy (longest drive).
The Horizon Scholarship Program was created in 1992 and provides students the opportunity to experience learning outside the walls of Foxcroft Academy. This past spring, ten students were awarded a total of more than $6,950, enabling them to take part in programs ranging from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia to the coast of California. This year’s recipients are thrilled with the opportunities they were awarded and are eager to pass along reports of their experiences to the student body this fall.
