Free alcohol server and seller training next week
DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Piscataquis Public Health Council will be offering the following trainings free of charge: Responsible Beverage Sales (RBS) — On-Premise on Tuesday, Sept. 3 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Piscataquis Room at Mayo Regional Hospital; and Training in Intervention Procedures (TIPS) — Off Premise on Wednesday, Sept. 4 Off-Premise 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Piscataquis Room at Mayo Regional Hospital.
These state-approved server and seller trainings will cover the following topics: identifying minors and visibly intoxicated patrons (VIPs); intervention to prevent a visibly intoxicated patron from driving; how alcohol is ingested and metabolized by the body; what alcoholism is and how alcohol affects the body; false ID detection and carding policy (did you know you and your establishment are liable for accepting a false ID?); the importance of good written policies; and the Liquor Liability Act.
Quality training has proven to be an effective tool to: prevent costly violations; instill more confidence in your staff; and possibly reduce Liquor Liability Insurance (check your insurance provider).
Upon successfully completing the program, attendees will be registered with the Maine Department of Public Safety, Liquor Licensing and receive a certificate.
These trainings are being offered by the Piscataquis Public Health Council and Maine’s Office of Substance Abuse to help you prevent costly and harmful sales to underage and high risk drinkers and promote a healthier and safer community and business environment.
