Sponsors sought for Race to End Domestic Abuse

This year’s Race to End Domestic Abuse takes place on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 6 and features a 5K run and walk along the Piscataquis River in Guilford. This is the 17th year for this event which begins the community’s observance of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month every October.

This year’s event sports a few changes and includes something for everyone. The focus of activity will be along Route 15 near the community playground, drawing more attention from passers-by. Last year’s Harvest Farmers’ Market will return with cider, apples, honey, pumpkins, squash, baked goods and other local produce. Steve Pratt The Music Maker will join in as DJ and hot dogs, hamburgers and other items will be available for sale throughout the afternoon for hungry runners, walkers and supporters.
Sponsors are sought for the event at a variety of levels ranging from $50 to $500. Please call Cindy or Angie at Womancare at 564-8165 or e-mail at cindy@wmncare.org for more information about joining other local businesses who have already signed on as sponsors, including AE Robinson, Maine Highlands Federal Credit Union, the Sharrow family, Dr. Robert Lodato and Will’s Shop n’ Save. Sponsors names will appear on the back of hundreds of race and walk T-shirts worn by some of the community’s finest runners and walkers.
