July 4 events around the region

The Sebec Village Associates will have a day of events on the Fourth of July next week, with proceeds benefiting the Reading Room. The day on Wednesday, July 4 starts with a breakfast at the Sebec Village Community Christian Church from 7-9 a.m.

The annual five kilometer (3.1 miles) road race starts at 8 a.m., and at 10:30 a.m. will be the canoe race.

The holiday’s parade starts at 9:30 a.m. A barbecue is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a bake sale begins at 11 a.m. Throughout the day will be children’s activities and pony rides and a table full of multiple-choice raffle prizes.

Dexter’s Independence Day events begin on Tuesday, July 3 with fireworks in-town at dusk (approximately 9 p.m.).

The town’s Fourth of July parade starts at 9:30 a.m. at the fire station, travels down Church Street (Route 7) to Main Street, proceeds through to the Maine Highlands Federal Credit Union and then follows Lincoln Street to the conclusion at the Factory One parking lot.

A boat parade on Lake Wassookeag will begin at 11 a.m. by the bridge.

In Greenville, Independence Day events begin with a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Camden National Bank parking lot.

The Independence Day parade starts at 11 a.m. at the Industrial Park in the Junction, with the procession traveling to downtown Greenville.

The fireworks display is set for approximately 9 p.m. to be shot off from the East Cove.

In Rockwood the Blue Ridge Rider ATV Club will host a barbecue and family fun event at 5 p.m. at the Gray Ghost Camps, with a lucky duck race starting at 4 p.m.. A boat parade lines up at 6:45 p.m. at the Kineo docks. Public fireworks are scheduled for 9 p.m. at the Birches.
