Dover-Foxcroft man charged with meth trafficking

    DOVER-FOXCROFT — Maine Drug Enforcement Agents arrested and charged 33-year-old Joel Frigon of Dover-Foxcroft with trafficking in methamphetamine on Aug. 7, a Class B felony.

    MDEA, with substantial assistance from the Dover-Foxcroft Police Department, has for several weeks been conducting an investigation into the alleged manufacturing of methamphetamine by Frigon, according to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety. During this time, agents learned that Frigon was using a pick-up truck to transport the chemicals needed to manufacture or “cook” the drug.
    At approximately 3 p.m. on Aug. 7, MDEA agents, assisted by state police, stopped Frigon on Route 11 in Charleston as he was driving his pickup. Based on evidence gathered during this stop, MDEA’s clandestine lab team was notified to respond. The pickup was secured and towed to a location in Bangor where later in the evening the lab team, comprised of specially trained agents assisted by chemists from Maine’s Health and Environmental Testing Lab, searched the truck.
    During the search, a significant amount of evidence was gathered which supported the allegation that Frigon intended to, or was actively involved in the manufacture of methamphetamine.
    Hazardous materials, beyond what was needed for testing, were turned over to the Maine Department of Environmental Protection for disposal.
    This investigation is continuing by MDEA and Frigon was transported to Penobscot County Jail.
