Carnival of Melody community band concert on Sunday at Dexter Town Hall

DEXTER — The Harold J. Crosby Community Band will be presenting its Carnival of Melody concert on at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 6 at the Dexter Town Hall. This annual event is a culmination of practices that began in January. The band’s director has chosen a wide variety of challenging music for the band, and the band has risen to that challenge, practiced hard, and is now ready to play for the public’s enjoyment.

The band will be performing a march by its namesake Harold J. Crosby, the American Honor March. It is the band’s custom to perform at least one of Crosby’s marches at each concert to honor him as Dexter’s own. In addition to this march, the band will play a collection of Celtic tunes, “Rhapsody in Blue,” “Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head,” “Hymn to Freedom,” “Terracotta Warriors,” and Carnival of Melody, a collection of older movies themes.

As always, this cabaret style concert is free and open to all. Light refreshments will be served while the audience sits back and enjoys the music of Dexter’s own Harold J. Crosby Community Band.
