Women’s club honors top high school school artists

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Nineteen pieces created by students at Foxcroft Academy and Piscataquis Community High School of Guilford were on display at the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC)/Miosac Club’s annual art show, which was supported by the local Kiwanis club, on March 25 in the lobby of the Center Theatre.

The works of art were judged by artist Suzette East of Brownville, with the winner — the honorees all receive cash prizes — advancing to the GFWC District Art Show next month in Newport where the top pieces will go on the state-level competition in May.

Top honors at the GFWC/Miosac Club Art Show were presented to Foxcroft Academy student Songchae “Amy” Park. Park also earned the People’s Choice award per a vote of art show attendees.

Placing second was Foxcroft’s Rui Feng and Ashley Grant of PCHS earned third-place honors.

Other art show participants were Foxcroft Academy students Rebecca Bessey, Emily Curtis, Yifan “Frances” Li, Krisla Wagner and Wenting “Cecilia” Yang, and PCHS’ Hope Adkins, Caroline Goggin, Tylla Gosselin, Annalee Knowles, Eve Patterson, Terri-Ann Perigo, Emily Sharron and Amaya White.
