Registration open for Center Theatre’s ‘Lion King Experience’ April Drama Camp

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Center Theatre is accepting registrations for the “’Lion King Experience” April Vacation Camp. The camp will be held at the Commons Event Center at Central Hall from April 16-20 — 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The camp will be taught by Derrick Buschmann, Foxcroft Academy’s theatre and film teacher and is open to kids in kindergarten through grade 8.

The camp, which was developed by Disney and Music Theater International, is a complete curriculum with lessons, activities, and exercises based on Disney’s “Lion King Jr.” Kids will learn acting skills and teamwork all within the world of the Lion King. While there will be no performance around this camp, the campers will create materials that will be on display in the Center Theatre lobby during the performance and some that may be used during the performance of “Lion King Jr.” at the Center Theatre during the first two weekends in May.

Thanks to the generosity of area Kiwanis Clubs and Pleasant River Lumber, the Theatre has a number of scholarships available for kids who are interested in camp, but can’t afford the registration fee. To register, or for more information, please contact the Center Theatre at 564-8943 or stop by during business hours.

The Center Theatre for the Performing Arts is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a mission to make the arts a part of life in the Maine Highlands by offering affordable arts, culture, entertainment and education.
