Eleventh annual Moosehead Lake Togue Derby is just around the corner

Do you love this winter weather? Are you looking forward to spending some time with family and friends snowmobiling, cooking hot dogs and marshmallows over the open fire, maybe a game of Nerf football while the ice fishing traps lie in wait for that big ole togue? If so, then you need to get your ticket for the 11th annual Moosehead Togue Derby that runs from Jan 26-28. There is no better place to spend a family weekend than the shores of Maine’s largest lake and it’s a great chance to win some spectacular prizes.

But wait, what if you don’t like this weather. Are all your friends posting pictures of their vacation trips to warmer climes while you shovel out from yet another bomb of a snowstorm? Well then, you should still get your ticket to the Moosehead Togue Derby because the top door prize is a choice of three vacation packages including trips for two to Orlando, Las Vegas or a Caribbean cruise. No fish needed to win. In addition, it will warm your heart to know that some of the proceeds for the derby go to NREC’s youth education programming. We get kids outdoors!

Tickets are for individuals and at a family rate. We also have a youth raffle that kids are entered into automatically on the family ticket, and you can purchase additional youth tickets. Youth prizes include a lifetime resident fishing license, a new Trek bike and a Dovetail bat. Tickets are on sale at Indian Hill Trading Post, Moosehead Bait and Tackle, Lucky’s Bait and the Stress Free Moose.Tickets can be purchased at Van Raymond Outfitters in Brewer and Mountain’s Market in Dover-Foxcroft. We hope to see you there and don’t forget there is a wild and tame dinner from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27 at the Bartley Event Center on Pritham Avenue We will have wild game dishes as well as a traditional turkey dinner. Prizes will be drawn after the meal and you will have a chance to swap fishing stories with ESPN’s NASCAR analyst Ricky Craven.
