SANTA AND MRS. CLAUS COME TO TOWN — The weekend’s annual Hometown Holidays celebration across the region began on Friday, Dec. 1 in Guilford with an evening tree lighting at the downtown Braeburn lot. After the singing of Christmas carols in front of the Guilford Historical Society and next to a bonfire across the street, Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived at the corner of Water and North Main streets. With the assistance of a dozen young helpers, Santa used his magic to light the Christmas tree.

IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS — With the assistance of a dozen children, Santa Claus counted down from 10 to light the Christmas tree in downtown on Guilford on Friday evening. The arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus helped kick off Hometown Holidays events across the region over the weekend.

CHESTNUTS ROASTING ON AN OPEN FIRE — ‘The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)’ was an appropriate selection for carolers prior to the Christmas tree lighting on Dec. 1 at the corner of Water and North Main streets in Guilford. The evening was part of Hometown Holidays events across Piscataquis County over the weekend.
