PCHS soccer star Gilbert named PVC Class C Boys Player of the Year

GUILFORD — Piscataquis Community High School’s Bryce Gilbert has had a very successful start to his senior year. Gilbert led the Pirates boys soccer team into the Class C North quarterfinals against top-seed Fort Kent Community High School — PCHS lost 6-3.

Gilbert played midfield and has been a three-year captain for the Pirates. He has shown leadership on and off of the field and has been a mentor to his fellow teammates.

At a recent sports banquet Gilbert was presented with a number of awards. On top of making Penobscot Valley Conference (PVC) All-Academic Team, Gilbert was named to Class C PVC First Team as well as to the Maine Coaches Soccer Coaches Class C North Regional All-Star Team. Gilbert was also given the honor naming him as the 2017 PVC Class C Boys Player of the Year, awarded to one player from a field of 13 teams.

Gilbert will conclude his high school soccer career by playing in the 23rd annual Maine Soccer Coaches Senior Bowl at Husson University in Bangor at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12.
