Thanks to all who helped with 4-H Silent Auction
To the Editor;
The Piscataquis 4-H Leaders’ Association would like to thank all of the businesses and individuals who participated in its 2017 4-H Silent Auction. This year was the third annual auction in the 4-H Exhibition Hall at the Piscataquis Valley Fair, and it was highly successful raising $1,018 for the scholarship fund.
This scholarship fund is completely dedicated to helping Piscataquis County 4-Hers attend in-state and national 4-H trips, camps and events. In this year alone the fund has helped send four youth on national trips to Washington, D.C and the scholarship fund has also aided in sending youth to 4-H@UMaine (an overnight stay at the Orono campus in May) and shooting sports training at the Bryant Pond 4-H camps.
Besides the generous donations from businesses, the Leaders’ Association is grateful for the individuals who bid on the items and did a great job keeping the bid sheets on the table neatly lined up.
4-H has been experiencing a great deal of growth in Piscataquis County in the recent months, and there are many ways for youth to get involved, from science to agricultural projects. If you are interested in learning more about 4-H, please contact Sheila Norman at the UMaine Cooperative Extension office in Dover-Foxcroft 165 East Main Street Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426, 564-3301 or 800-287-1491 or extension.piscataquis@maine.edu.
