Miller’s walk-off homer lands Dexter in Class C North championship

DEXTER — Senior Brayden Miller’s walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh gave fifth-seeded Dexter Regional High School a 6-4 victory over No. 9 Fort Kent Community High School in a Class C North semifinal on the afternoon of June 10.

Miller added a single for the Tigers (who improved to 12-6 with the victory) which scored twice in the sixth and twice in the seventh to rally for the victory.

Sophomore Kayden Nadeau paced Fort Kent (11-8) with a double, single and an RBI.

The win advances Dexter to the program’s first regional final since playing in the 2012 Class C East championship.

On Wednesday, June 14 the Tigers are scheduled to face third-seeded Orono High School (12-6) in the 2017 Class C North final at 6:30 p.m. at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor. During the regular season Orono won both games with Dexter, as the Red Riots earned a 4-1 home victory on May 3 and won 6-1 at Dexter a week later on May 10.

The Class C championship is scheduled for Saturday, June 17 at 2 p.m. at Mansfield Stadium with the Dexter-Orono winner playing the South champion, either No. 1 Lisbon High School or sixth seed Monmouth Academy.
