Track and field results

    The Foxcroft Academy boys track and field team finished in third place out of 14 teams with a score of 89 points during a May 16 meet at the University of Maine in Orono.
    Donald Boyer led Foxcroft by winning three events. Boyer swept the hurdles by finishing first at 110 meters, in a time of 14.84 seconds, and at 300 meters, in 41.78 seconds. Boyer also won the long jump at a top distance of 20 feet, 1 inch. He added a fifth-place performance in the pole vault by clearing 9-06.

    Cody Levensalor had the meet’s top throw in the shot put at 43-07, and Corey Bjornson came in first in the discus at 120-07. Bjornson was right behind Levensalor in the shot at 42-02.75.
    In third place for the Ponies was Ryan Wang in the 100 with a time of 11.49 seconds. Jeremiah McLeod tied for third in the high jump at 5-04. Peter Boyer finished fourth in the shot at 39-07. Two Foxcroft relays came in fourth place. Wesley Stinson, Levensalor, Sebastian Zepeda and McLeod combined for a time of 49.80 seconds in the 4×100. In the 4×800 Paul Birtwistle, Cooper Nelson, Hunter Giacomuzzi and James Smith were fourth at 10:33.30.
    Peter Boyer came in fifth in both the javelin and discus, with throws of 126-01 and 107 respectively. Caleb Atkinson finished fifth in the shot at 39-03.
    With 13 points, the boys from Greenville came in eighth at UMaine. The Lakers’ 4×400 — comprised of Matt DiAngelo, Henry Hersey, Tristan Richards and Corey Henderson — placed third at 3:45.64. Evan Sullivan had the day’s fourth-best throw in the javelin at 127 feet.
    Also scoring points for Greenville was Henderson, fifth in the 800 at 2:15.46; and DiAngelo, sixth in the 200 at 24.45 seconds.
    Piscataquis Community High Schools’ Ben Maines accounted for all four of his team’s points, which placed the Pirates 12th.
     Maines came in fifth in both hurdle events, running the 110 hurdles in 16.53 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 44.96 seconds.
    In 13th place was Penquis Valley High School with two points. Thomas Diaz finished sixth in the 400 at 57.55 seconds, while Cody Herbest came in sixth in the discus at 106-05.
    In the girls’ meet, Foxcroft tallied 26 points to finish fifth out of 13 schools. Fern Morrison was the meet’s runner-up in the 300 hurdles with a time of 49.88 seconds. She also came in third in the 400 at 1:03.53, and was fourth in the 200 at 28.61 seconds.
    Mia Smith placed third in the pole vault as she cleared the bar at 7-06. Fifth in the 1,600 was Liza Grigoryeva at 6:19.84.
    PCHS tied Central High School of Corinth for sixth place as both teams picked up 14 points. Shawna Burgess came in third in the javelin at 84-02, and placing fourth in the high jump was Briana Worster at 4-08.
    Lucinda Wingert was right behind in the high jump standings, also clearing 4-08. Mariah Pettit contributed two points by finishing second in the 100 with a time of 13.42 seconds.
    The Greenville girls tied Searsport District High School with 12 points, putting both in eighth place.
    Tricia Sherman had the second best throw in the shot at 30-09.75. Andrea Burney finished fifth in the discus at 80 feet and Brooke Noyes was fifth in the javelin at 78-02.
    Penquis and Narraguagus High School of Harrington tied for 10th place with 10 points apiece. In the high jump Courtney Bowers was third at 4-08, while Jessica Preble finished fourth in the long jump at 15-01.
    On May 18 the Dexter Regional High School boys placed sixth out nine teams with 29 points during a meet at Hampden Academy. Richard Ryckmen had the day’s fastest time in the 1,600 racewalk as he covered the four laps in 8:00.93.
    Michael Poulin was the runner-up in the javelin at 143-05, and Seth Blais placed third in the 400 at 57.66 seconds. Also placing for the Tigers was Conrad Taff, fourth in the high jump at 5-04; Torin Smith, fifth in the triple jump at 32-06; and Kyle Lockhart, sixth in the shot put at 37-04.
    The Penquis boys had a pair of sixth-place finishes to tally two points at the meet (finishing ninth). Diaz ran the 400 in 59 seconds and sixth in the triple jump was Gary Kargakos in 31-00.
    In the girls’ meet, Dexter placed fifth of nine schools with a score of 29.50 points. Alison Pease came in second in the 200 at 29.60 seconds and she was fifth in the high jump at 4-04. Finishing second in the 400 was Shayna Fogg with a time of 1:05.67.
    The Tigers had two third-place performances as Katie Barton came in third in the 100 at 14.28 seconds and Sarah Vigue placed third in the javelin at 86-11.
    With 28 points the girls from Penquis finished sixth at Hampden. Bowers’ height of 4-08 was good for second in the high jump, and she also came in third in the long jump at 13-11.75.
    Preble came in second and third in the long jump and 200. Her distance of 14-06 was good for second place in the long jump and she finished third in the 200 at 29.65 seconds.
