Pony indoor track opens the season

ORONO — The Foxcroft Academy indoor track and field team kicked off the 2016-17 season on Dec. 17 during a Penobscot Valley Conference/Eastern Maine Indoor Track League meet at the University of Maine. Both the Pony boys and girls finished in seventh place out a field of eight teams.
The boys scored 16 points as senior Evan Chadbourne recorded a pair of second-place performances. Chadbourne was the 55-meter runner-up with a time of 6.99 seconds and he came in second in the 200 by running the event in 24.52 seconds.
The Foxcroft girls earned six points on Saturday. The Pony 4×800 relay team placed fourth in 12 minutes, 21.56 seconds. The squad was made up of junior Jordan Thomas, sophomore Sarasofia Stentardo, junior Virginia Macomber and freshman Sadie Avellar.
Avellar and Macomber both had individual sixth-place finishes. Avellar’s came in the 800 at a time of 3:17.35 and Macomber finished ixth in the two-mile at 20:15.44.
