Retired educators celebrate the season

Retired educators celebrate the season |
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Members of the Piscataquis County Retired Educators Association met at Thayer Parkway on Dec. 6 to enjoy a Christmas potluck. Linda Howard and Gil Reynolds decorated the room with Christmas arrangements. Guest Janye Sharrow played a Christmas song before a lunch of sandwiches, salads and desserts was enjoyed.
Reynolds had a few business items to take care of. Members signed a card for John Glover, who was unable to attend.
Following lunch Minnie McCormick read some Christmas traditions, some of which are not observed today. Members joined in singing Christmas carols with Sharrow at the piano.
Members brought books to give to the Kiwanis Community Christmas
There will be no winter meetings but the Piscataquis County Retired Educators Association will resume in April.
Rheba Michaud has received a request from the Maine Education Association–Retired newsletter The Clarion, asking for an article on Martha Rollins who was presented with the Piscataquis Leadership Award earlier in the year. The last teachers Rollins worked with, Linda Pratt, Judy Love and Howard, were present and pictures were taken. Members told stories about working with Rollins to be included in the article that will be published in the next issue of The Clarion. The association is very proud of Rollins and her accomplishments.
