Portalatin wins Millinocket Half-Marathon

MILLINOCKET — A number of runners from the area headed north on Saturday to run in the Millinocket Half-Marathon and Marathon — the races had no entry fees as participants were instead urged to spend their money in the Katahdin region.
Rico Portalatin, 45, of Milo, finished in first place in the half-marathon. He covered the 13.1 miles in 1 hour, 27 minutes and 6 seconds. Portalatin bested Aaron Long, 37 of Bar Harbor, by 59 seconds to come in first out of a field of 433.
Andrew Bermudez, 38, of Dexter, placed 52nd with a time of 1:47.51. Heather Gudroe, 38, of Dexter, came in 80th in 1:56.04. Tracy Glidden, 51, of Dexter, was 134th at 2:04.48. Placing 141st in a time of 2:05.53 was Marcy King, 44, of Dexter.
Bob Clark, 65, of Dexter, placed 205th at 2:16.15. Peter Devine’s, 67, of Garland, time of 2:20.41 was good for 231st place. Gary Larson, 71, of Dover-Foxcroft, came in 260th at 2:26.39. Judy Snow, 61, of Dover-Foxcroft, was 304th with a time of 2:36.26.
Brenda White, 49, of LaGrange, ran in the Millinocket Marathon. White covered the 26.2 miles in 3:55.09 to finish 25th out of 112 entrants.
